City of Melbourne Beyond the Safe City Strategy 2014-17 – Jul 2014

The Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission welcomes the opportunity to respond to the Beyond the Safe City Strategy 2014-17. The Commission recognises that Melbourne enjoys an international reputation of being a safe city. We also appreciate the challenges that community safety in Victoria entails. The Commission agrees with the City of Melbourne’s view that factors such as ensuring social justice and promoting inclusion are integral in keeping the Victorian community safe.
