Preventing and responding to workplace race discrimination: a guide for managers

Overview

Inclusive leadership means knowing how race discrimination can occur and what to do about it. This digital learning program is for Victorian managers and people leaders to prevent and respond to workplace race discrimination.   

It features realistic scenarios, interactive learning and essential content to guide participants on what racism looks like in the workplace, how it occurs, and its impact on individuals and teams.  Leader and managers will learn about legal protections under the Equal Opportunity Act 2010, and gain practical tips and guidance on meeting their positive duty to eliminate race discrimination.   

Learning outcomes

After completing the program, managers and people leaders will be able to: 

  • describe racism - know what workplace racism is, how it occurs and its impact 
  • recognise how the law prohibits race discrimination at work - know how the law defines race discrimination and how people are protected in Victoria under the Equal Opportunity Act 
  • identify your role in preventing and responding to workplace race discrimination as a manager by drawing on the positive duty and minimum standards framework. 

Audience

This program is designed to improve knowledge and capability of workplace managers and people leaders.   

The program will also benefit other staff who play a role in shaping workplace culture, such as people and culture practitioners, staff representative and contact officers.
