Submission to the Victorian Law Reform Commission’s review of the Change or Suppression (Conversion) Practices Prohibition Act 2021

In March 2026, the Commission made a submission to the Victorian Law Reform Commission’s review of the operation of the Act. 

About the submission

We welcomed the opportunity to make a submission to the Victorian Law Reform Commission’s (VLRC) review of the operation and effectiveness of the Change or Suppression (Conversion) Practices Prohibition Act 2021 (the CSP Act).

As an independent statutory authority, our Commission has functions under the CSP Act.  

Our submission has two parts. Part A provides an overview and brief history of the Commission’s functions under the CSP Act, including education and information, enquiries, the civil response scheme, and investigations. Part B considers the operation of the CSP Act and makes recommendations to strengthen and clarify the operation of the CSP Act.
