Ambulance Victoria review – Update 4 (7 April 2021)

The Commission’s independent review of Ambulance Victoria is progressing. While the online survey is now closed, there are still opportunities for current and former Ambulance Victoria employees and volunteers/first responders to contribute. Here is the latest update on the review and how to participate.

The Review Team is pleased to provide a further update on the Commission’s Independent review into workplace equality in Ambulance Victoria, while Commissioner Hilton is on leave over the school holidays. We hope you have managed a break over the recent holidays or have one planned in the near future.

What’s happening with the review?

The Commission closed our online workforce survey on 5 April. We are grateful to the 2,161 people who shared their views and experiences with us through the survey. Each response helps us to understand the state of workplace equality in AV and will inform our findings and recommendations for change.

In addition, we have conducted 84 confidential interviews (with a further 51 interviews scheduled) and received 68 written submissions. We are similarly grateful to everyone who has taken the time to participate in the review via interviews and submissions, as well as to the various stakeholders who continue to make themselves available to the Commission.

Confidential interviews are closing, register by 21 April 2021

Confidential interviews are one of the ways that you can share your views and experiences, and the Commission will continue to undertake interviews until 31 May 2021.

Due to the high demand for confidential interviews, we need to close registrations for interviews on 21 April 2021.

If you would like to participate in a confidential interview, you need to register via our dedicated telephone hotline (1300 395 726) or email address (AVreview@veohrc.vic.gov.au) by 21 April.

If you have already registered for an interview, you are guaranteed an interview with the Commission and don’t need to take any further action.

There’s still time to make a confidential written submission

You can make a confidential written submission until 31 May 2021. You can do this by using our online webform or by emailing the submission to AVreview@veohrc.vic.gov.au.

A short guide to making a submission is available on our website.

Participation in focus groups

The Review Team is currently working to finalise our planned focus groups, to be held from late April and throughout May. These solution-focused discussions will cover a mixture of key topics, including access to flexible working arrangements.

Further information about our focus groups will be available shortly.

Clarification on confidentiality agreements

Since Commissioner Hilton’s last update, Ambulance Victoria has clarified how its limited waiver of confidentiality obligations in non-disclosure agreements applies to non-disparagement clauses. If you are interested, you can access their letter here.

Once again, thank you to everyone who has participated in the review so far.

Take care
